March 22 - 26

This week I did a presentation for pre-service teachers on how to use the SMART Board, it was an overview of the possibilities of use in the classroom. The presentation was videotaped and we will be able to go through it and improve quality and content for the next times.

After that Dr. Jane Falls presented the equipment available for check out.

I also developed an ePortfolio to host the SMART Board Project. In this ePortfolio I have three short tutorials that I developed. The first one shows how to download the SMART Notebook Software and drivers; the second one shows teachers how to find ready-made interactive multimedia activities within the SMART Notebook files that can be used in class for whichever grade or subject matter; the third tutorial shows some useful SMART Notebook tools that can be used to create activities from the scratch. You can view all of this at: www.tinyurl.com/elzacruz-smartboard.

In the same ePortfolio I have included the lesson plan and class materials for the above-mentioned presentation to the pre-service teachers.

Last but not least the Lab GAs presented at the GSA Symposium at Virginia Tech. Our presentation was very well organized and each GA had a topic to talk about. Or presentation was about the Lab as being not only a physical space where people come to use the equipments available but a community of practice to learn, teach and discover. We share knowledge, skills and understanding in a collaborative environment. Thanks to yeonjeong for her efficient leadership.

  5. The SMART board workshop was great, I always learn something new about technology and myself every time I use them or interact with it like in your session last week. When I produce the DVD, it'll be a blockbuster, LoL!
